All About Us...

We are four France-lovers who have spent decades holidaying in France and dreaming we could stay forever.

In 2015 we made that dream a reality and bought our property - As Plos Heights - with the idea of leaving the UK, starting afresh and changing our lives entirely. We gave up careers in Museums, PR and communications and University administration to begin a completely new life in France.

Now we run cycling holidays and cycling-friendly accommodation in sunny southwest France and aim to introduce this beautiful region to those with a love of seeing the sights on two wheels.

As Plos Heights is our home and we couldn’t be more pleased to share it with you. We look forward to welcoming you to this wonderful place.

Thirty-something cyclist

You can’t run a cycling business without knowing a thing or two about cycling and our resident cyclist, Marcus, has been the font of knowledge on all things cycling, bikes, routes and nutrition since we started this journey.

Marcus’ love of cycling began over a decade ago when his employer’s ‘cycle to work scheme’ prompted him to buy firstly a mountain bike, then a road bike…and since then several more road bikes have steadily appeared! Now, ten years on, many bikes and several thousand miles pedalled, we find ourselves living in France and running a cycling business.

Since arriving here Marcus has swapped the congested roads of the UK for long, winding tranquil lanes in our perfect location at the border of three little-known regions of France: the Tarn and Garonne, Tarn, and Aveyron.

You can check out Marcus’ cycling blog here and follow his Strava rides here.

The rest of us!

We couldn’t run this business on cycling alone - Charlotte, Melanie and Jim have also brought their varied expertise to this venture. Combining their skills for creating stylish interiors and bespoke furniture for our fabulous accommodation, landscaping and cultivating our extensive gardens and grounds, providing hospitality and creating tasty recipes from local produce for our cycling guests – as a group we think we’ve got most things covered to bring you the ideal holiday experience.
